Morning Quiet

My mornings, for a very long time, have all started out the same way.

My wife wakes me up at 6:30 a.m. I get up (slower now that I’m older) get dressed, go down stairs and go for a walk with the Misses and our two dogs. We walk the route every day rain or shine. This walk can be cathartic but it’s not my favorite time of day, that’s saved for a little bit later in the morning.

When we get home, my wife goes upstairs to shower and get ready for the day while I make my coffee and head out to my favorite spot in the house, our back porch. It’s like a little cabin in the woods just outside our back door.

The dogs are always out there waiting for me when I come out with coffee in hand. When I sit down I sometimes watch a YouTube video or read the morning paper. But most of the time, I just sit there in the quiet.
